After some busy days a new version of Tierprogramm is available.

Let’s take a look on the main changes in this release:

• New Preference Dialog
• New Check for update function using the Sparkle Framework
• More file extensions supported – added .tif in this release
• New Support for Exiftool via Macports

Sieht so aus, also ob Apple die eigene Entwicklungs-IDE mal wieder etwas überarbeitet hat.

Aus Version 3.1 wurde somit Version 3.1.1 die selbstredent keine neue Funktionen mit sich bringt, sondern ausschließlich Konfigurations-Änderungen und Fixes enthält.

During the development of Tierprogramm (my first AppleScript Application ever) i realized that appleScript is quite powerful for Mac users. As i handed Tierprogramm to another guy who is trying to get the Leopard only app Tiger-ready i got some free time to do something else …. for sure again with AppleScript to improve the learning curve.

A user has contacted me and was asking for a new comment-function in Tierprogramm.

Background:

Bjoern is using the Comment function in Tierprogramm to write specific strings into his images. This strings are later used in a photo-blog or similar. With the comment function it Tierprogramm 0.8 it was a not that simple inserting individual comments into “hundrets” of images as you had to define the comment each time in the Preferences first.

Solution:

Tierprogramm 0.8.1 has a new comment function which can be used for inserting individual comments into images (mass-editing). While processing the images you get a dialog where you can insert your new comment, press OK and done.

Besides that there was a small bug in the routine which checked for the Growl installation which is fixed now too. Thanks to Bjoern for testing & reporting. I hope you can enjoy Tierprogramm now a bit more

With the latest release of Tierprogramm (Version 0.8) i have included almost everything i planned at the beginning of this Applescript learning session.

My plan is to add a function which checks for updates, support for some other file-extensions (besides .jpg) and some other small improvments like….

A new comment function:

Based on a mail from a user i have already included a new function today (into my code which is not public yet) which offers another methods for inserting exif-comments.

While 0.8 and earlier offered only the option to define a comment in Tierprogram Preferences which was written into all files dropped to Tierprogramm the new comment function (i call it multicomments) acts completly different. Having the new function enabled you can define an individual comment for each image.

So you can drag ie. 10 images to Tierprogramm and while processing you’ll see a quick dialog box for each image with the option to define a custom comment.

Gonna try to include the other functions mentioned above in the future and rleease another version in the next weeks.

as the topic already points out … there is a new release of Tierprogramm.

For a detailed listing of changes check the changelog.txt provided with the download-archive.

I hope this release is bug-free but like always … feel free to give feedback. I am open for new feature requests, critic and anything else.
