Randnotiz | Snow Leopard und die 0 KB plist’s
January 4th, 2010 at 15:53Nachdem Patrick einige eigentümliche .plist Dateien in seine Preference Ordner aufgefallen sind – habe ich mich auch mal auf die Suche gemacht – und Bingo … ich finde ähnliche Grundtendenzen auf meiner Snow Leopard Installation.
Letzlich riecht das nach temporären Dateien die nicht sauber aufgeräumt wurden – und wurde schon von verschiedenen Benutzern seit dem Wechsel auf 10.6 beobachtet.
Im Hazel Forum findet man neben deutlich größere Ansammlungen dieser 0 KB plist Files …
… auch den entsprechenden Grundhinweis (August 2009)
I’ve checked with some other devs and they’ve noticed it as well (and with other apps, not Hazel). It seems to be a general SL bug where the preferences system fails to write out preferences and leaves the temporary files it creates sitting around. It is pretty sporadic as I can only get it to trigger once in a while. It may show up with Hazel more if you are futzing with it since that creates more opportunities for it to fail.
I’ve filed a bug with Apple so we’ll see what happens with that. From what I can tell, they should be able to be safely removed unless the file was just created in the last few seconds.

In short, it is a Snow Leopard bug but Hazel had a tendency to trigger it. I’ve reduced that greatly but it will never totally go away until Apple fixes the base problem.
Nun stellt sich für mich (und dabei kommt ihr ins Spiel) die Frage
Tritt des nur vereinzelt bei einigen Benutzern auf – oder handelt es sich hierbei tendenziell dann doch eher um ein Flächendeckendes Syndrom unter 10.6 ?

I can confim the same issue on all our Macs down here as well. I have posted on the support.apple.com forums, but it seems most people either dont have the issue or dont seem to care much.
I have tried so many tweaks over the past week I am starting to go crazy
One thing I can say is the issue seems to resolve itself when you safeboot… Not that thats a solution.
I hope 10.6.3 resolves it as I have hundreds of the darn things – com.apple.iTunes.plist.XXXXXX in the ~ Library/Preferences/ByHost folder and com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.XXXXXX in ~ /Library/Preferences.

Interessant – scheint auf jeden Fall kein Problem einer kleineren Gruppe zu sein wenn ich mir die Vote-Verteilung so ansehe.
